Have you heard the news about Microsoft Windows XP and Office 2003? As of April 8, 2014, Microsoft no longer supports either. Now that support has ended, security patches, software updates, and technical support from Microsoft have ended. Any computer running Windows XP or Office 2003 is vulnerable to hackers and malicious software.
If you haven’t said your goodbyes yet, you are running the risk of security attacks, data loss, and compliance breaches. You may also encounter compatibility issues and slow loading time. It’s time for Windows XP and Office 2003 to rest in peace.
The security risk is not trivial. According to Vincent Oh, a regional director of computer security for McAfee, “XP still has many vulnerabilities both known and unknown, What is more disturbing is the thought that hackers could be holding back their exploits on unpublished vulnerabilities only to launch them after the support for XP ends,”
Fortunately, there are plenty of options. Upgrading your computer to the latest Windows operating systems, either version 7 or 8, and the Office suite to 2007 or greater will keep your files and network safe, as well as improve productivity and performance. If you have any questions or concerns about Windows XP or Office 2003, don’t hesitate to give us a call!
