In 2019, Amazon’s leadership decided to turn this into more of an event than ever with multiple days and unheard-of discounts on popular items. As other retailers scramble in an attempt to keep up with the online behemoth, what will Amazon do next to top their showing this year? If you didn’t tune in during the two-day event, you missed out on some pretty spectacular deals with Amazon claiming that they sold more items than Cyber Monday and Black Friday — combined.

Some of the Deals You Missed

If you’ve ever been interested in purchasing an Amazon device, Amazon Prime Days are the time to do it! Their newest Echo Dot, Alexa devices, Fire TV Stick were some of the top sellers, while smart devices such as the Ring doorbell, MyQ Smart Garage Door Opener and Blink devices were in the top of the heap. Buyers found many of these devices at discounts up to 50% off retail, which can be a significant discount when you get into the top-end, pricey options for these digital devices. Apple AirPods were discounted by $40, but there are some items that you simply shouldn’t purchase during Prime Days.

Never Buy These Products on Amazon Prime Days

While the deals in most segments on Amazon are exceptional on Prime Days, don’t buy baby items or toys during this summer sale. Baby items are rarely on a deep discount structure at retailers because these are “must-have” items for parents instead of something purchased on a whim. It’s also too early in the year to get cheaper toys as toy manufacturers prefer to reduce prices more drastically in the late fall and winter months before major holidays. Large kitchen appliances are another group of items that you can likely get a better deal locally at a big box retailer.

Amazon Continues to Add New Perks for Prime Members

One of the key goals of the annual extravaganza of commerce is to add more members to their Amazon Prime subscription service. Now considered one of the best deals around, Amazon Prime includes free access to millions of songs, movies, storage for photos, free two-day shipping for most of the country, free same-day delivery in some zip codes, Twitch Prime for gamers, Amazon Fresh access, Prime Wardrobe where you “try before you buy” on eligible items, early access to special sales and special shipping discounts on Prime Pantry items. As you can imagine, Amazon continues to roll out new options for members, adding ongoing value for current members and creating a compelling argument for those who have yet to subscribe.
